We had a fantastic time on our first trip to the library! The librarian showed us all the secrets of how the library works. The best part? We all got to pick our very own books to bring home. We’ve decided that going to the library is definitely one of our favourite things to do!

Supermarket Maths! 🛒

In Numeracy, we’ve been busy becoming Money Masters. We’re learning how to calculate change. This is super important skill for the real world. Our brains were working overtime during mental maths, but we had to be careful! Some "sneaky shopkeepers" tried to give us the wrong change on purpose. Luckily, our P4 customers were too smart to be tricked!

We are diving deep into Narrative Writing this term. We’ve been creating amazing characters and using our five senses to describe magical story settings. We also read a book called The Tadpole’s Promise. We tried our best to predict the ending, but wow it was a total shock! None of us saw that coming!

We turned our classroom into a Christmas wonderland today during our "Deck the Desks" activity! 

The children did an amazing job transforming their individual learning spaces using glitter, tinsel, and their own unique ideas. 

We emphasized a few important lessons during the fun: 

🤝 Team Work: The children worked in small teams, helping each other cut shapes and share supplies.

💖 Sharing: Everyone did a wonderful job of sharing craft materials, ensuring every desk had a chance to sparkle.

🎨 Creativity: While they helped their teammates, their final desk designs were all their own—we saw snowmen, Santas, and gingerbread houses! 

We are so proud of the children for working together so well and showing off their amazing creativity!

We are a very imaginative bunch and instead of seeing leaves, conkers and flowers, we saw fairy wings, dragon scales and dinosaur poop. When we arrived back at school we took pictures of our ingredients and created a pic collage showing all the wonderful natural ingredients we found. Our classroom was filled with excitement and laughter as we came up with magical ideas for each ingredient.

The children drew and shaded WW2 soldiers paying great attention to detail. They also used tissue paper to create a camouflage background. The finished portraits were amazing and will be displayed outside our classrooms for everyone to see.

The children have been investigating a range of instructions and can identify the different features in a set of instructions. This week they were given a challenge. In twos they had to carefully follow a set of instructions and work together to make their own teeth cookies. The finished products looked amazing. Maybe not the healthiest set of gnashers but we all agreed that they tasted fantastic.

As part of our learning about how to have a growth mindset the P4 children created some unusual  pictures. As you can see each one is unique but they all started out with just a black dot. We wanted to see how great things can start with something simple and, with hard work they can become something wonderful.

This tied in perfectly with Roald Dahl day, which is celebrated on 13th September. The children created their own revolting rhymes which perfectly described Mr Twit’s beard. 🤢🐛🪱🐀🧀🍔 
They also made Mr Twit’s beard buns using crushed up Shredded Wheat and jelly sweets for the pieces of food found in his beard. 
It was disgustingly good fun
