🌼 Spring has Sprung!🌼

This week our Primary 2 children have been making the most of the beautiful daffodils which are blossoming on our school grounds.

We embraced the signs of spring, taking our learning to our outdoor classroom, where we had a closer inspection of the flowers.

The children identified each part of the flower and then created detailed diagrams of their findings.

The inspiration didn't stop there! After studying William Wordsworth's famous poem 'Daffodils', the class got creative and produced their own colourful art pieces.

Be sure to look out for our pretty daffodils and spring flowers when you visit the school. They will brighten your day. 🌼

Light and Dark

🔍 Let’s look into: P2KM 🔎

In P2KM, we have been learning about the topic Light and Dark. Our focus text "The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark", led us on a journey of discovery about the world of Owls and nocturnal animals.

We have been very creative and developed our pottery skills by working with clay to make candle holders. We also drew inspiration from Van Gogh and replicated his famous ‘A Starry Night’, using oil pastels.

We have enjoyed using light sources to support our learning, especially the use of a light table to build words and develop phonics and spelling skills.

It is important to stay this time of year and so we have practiced ways of having good Road Safety on the darker evenings.

Balloon STEM

During our P2 topic 'Up, Up and Away!', our focus story was Gordon's Great Escape. We carried out a STEM investigation to see how balloons travel. We raced the balloons across our classroom. Science is so much fun!

Pigeons Visit P2

P2 had unusal visitors to our classroom! Our classmates family kindly brought in 2 racing pigeons to visit. We learned lots of interesting facts about the pigeons, including what they eat, how to care for them and how far they fly. It was such a special visit.

To celebrate Coding Day, P1 got to experiment with ICT in so many fun and interactive ways. They used Dash+Dot, Spheros and Indi Cars. Our digital leaders and P5 pupils demonstrated how to use the equipment and supported the P1s. We have lots of budding computer whizzes in P1.

Autumn in P1

Have a look at the lovely learning taking place in Primary 1 this Autumn. Our pupils have been embracing the opportunities for exploration, creativity and imagination. They have investigated Autumn through their senses and in a variety of practical experiences. They have studied apples, leaves, conkers and acorns in our tuft trays. They have created hedgehogs and Autumn crafts. P1 have been learning about number, shape and letters and they are making wonderful progress.

First days in Primary 1

A very warm welcome to our new Primary 1 pupils. They are enjoying their first days in our school and making many wonderful first memories. We are so proud to share these momentous milestones with our new pupils and their families. We look forward to the year ahead and the adventures it will bring.
