  • πŸ’ Building Resilience with HIP Psychology 🌟

    Published 19/10/25

Primary 3 took part in an engaging “Tricky Times” workshop with HIP Psychology. The session helped us learn all about how to cope when things don’t go to plan and how to build our resilience when faced with tricky situations.

Through stories, games, and discussion, we explored different feelings we might experience when things get difficult and talked about positive ways to manage them — like taking deep breaths, talking to someone we trust, or thinking about what we can do next time.

The children shared some fantastic ideas about times they’ve faced challenges and how they overcame them. We learnt that everyone has tricky moments sometimes, but with kindness, courage, and a growth mindset, we can bounce back and keep going! πŸ’ͺ✨

  • Our Five Senses - Painting with Spices

    Published 19/10/25

πŸ‚ Exploring Our Five Senses and Autumn Spices 🍁

We have been busy exploring our Five Senses — especially our sense of smell and sight — through a fun and creative art and science activity!

We created beautiful Autumn paintings using spices such as cinnamon, paprika, cloves, and curry powder. The classroom smelt amazing as we mixed the different powders with paint and water to see what colours they made.

After our painting, we did some writing to describe what we saw and smelt. We talked about:

    • Which spice had the strongest smell 🌢️
    • Which one we liked the smell of most 🌸
    • And which spice made the brightest colour 🎨

The children used wonderful describing words like sweet and spicy, and we loved seeing how engaged they were with all their senses.

It was a lovely way to celebrate the colours and scents of Autumn while learning more about how our senses help us explore the world around us!

  • Cold Lands - STEM carousel

    Published 23/01/25

As part of our new topic, Cold Lands, we engaged in a series of hands-on STEM activities to explore, experiment, and deepen our understanding.

As we learn about animals that inhabit cold environments, we investigated how polar bears stay warm in freezing temperatures.

Inspired by our focus book, ‘Lost and Found’, we explored the size and strength of boats to determine how we could safely carry the characters back home from the South Pole.

We also conducted experiments with ice, testing different materials and equipment to see which could speed up the melting process.

Finally, we explored how salt affects buoyancy, discovering how it can make objects float and gaining a better understanding of saltwater density.

The class worked brilliantly together and had so much fun as budding scientists! πŸ§‘‍πŸ”¬

  • Light and Dark πŸ’‘

    Published 16/11/24

P2 completed a carousel of topic activities based on Light and Dark.

Each table conducted a science experiment of making simple circuits. We predicted what we thought would happen when we connected the bulb to the battery using wires and drew conclusions.

We created a dark den and experimented with torches and glow in the dark shapes.

Finally, we completed our Northern Lights artwork, and we spoke about natural and artificial sources of light πŸ’‘ β˜€οΈ
