Digital Art inspired by David Hockney and Pablo Picasso

The children learned about their perception of self and how we all see ourselves in different ways.

David Hockney's 'Joiner Photography' aimed to give his work a dynamic that is not always present in a single photograph. We studied intricate photo collages and how they encapsulate a range of expressions over time, yet are seen together in one image. We then learned about how Pablo Picasso depicted expression and emotion in his work with the use of colour line.

Inspired by the work of Hockney and Picasso, we created our own 'joiner' portraits before digitising them to reflect the work of Picasso.

The children's responses to this project were wonderful, drawing carefully upon the elements of both artists.
