Coding Week - Stone Age Cave Animations
To celebrate Coding Week we created our very own Stone Age cave animations using JIT5 and Scratch Junior. We utilised our knowledge of the Stone Age, the Neolithic people and their lifestyles.

Well done P7!
Our first topic of P7 is Stone Age to Iron Age.
As an introduction to this topic we have been analysing the Stone Age cave painting as a method of communication, to warn other tribes, to decorate their homes and for entertainment.
The children have utilised pastel pencils and tea bags to create a blended, textured book to resemble the chalk and earth Neolithic people used.
Massive well done to all of our School Council applicants! They all spoke with such confidence and had amazing ideas to contribute to the pupil voice of OLSP. Congratulations to our appointed representative of P7AL - Cathan O’Reilly ๐๐ป
Faye, Lexi and Abbey did so well in their Eco Council interviews! Big congratulations to all the candidates and new P7AL representative of the Eco Council; Abbey Love. They were so brave and put a lot of effort into their presentations and posters! Abbey looks forward to making lots of exciting changes, allowing our school to make a positive impact on our planet.
Our PE focus this term is Unihoc. We had a great time developing our skills of manoeuvring the ball and keeping control at all times. Well done everyone ๐๐ป
๐ Happy World Book Day ๐
To celebrate World Book Day we adopted the theme of ‘Harry Potter’ to influence our learning. This morning we had a potion lesson ๐งช We then took a trip to Gringott’s bank to exchange magical money and muggle money ๐ฐ Today has been a reminder for the class that books are amazing and can transform our imagination and creative thinking!
Today we had Ben from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council to teach us all about 'Fast Fashion' and the impact it has on the environment and our planet!
We upcycled our old T-shirts to make new tote bags.
P7 really enjoyed the informative and interactive session and have learnt a lot about the fashion industry.
P7AL had a great Handball coaching session with Fiona.
Fantastic effort from all the boys and girls! We are all so excited about our next session.
We have been recreating the Solar System in P7 this week.
Over the past weeks we have researched the planets; their terrain, their temperatures and what order they orbit the sun.
We have collated some excellent facts about the Solar System and created iMovies to showcase these.
Well done P7!
To celebrate Coding Week we joined a Scratch Jr Digital Story Workshop with Nerve Centre.
The class really enjoyed creating their own Space themed digital stories and this tied in really well with our current topic.
Brilliant effort from everyone today, well done!
Parents can view our digital stories on Google Classroom.
In P7AL, our artwork has been inspired by Peter Thorpe.
Peter began creating his work when he became so fed up of wasting paint, that he started to use his left overs to create abstract backgrounds with a space theme. We liked this artist as it linked to our learning in World Around Us, and we thought his use of bold and bright colours really captured our own personal interpretations of Space.
We have used oil pastels to achieve the abstract backgrounds as well as planet interpretations. The class used blending techniques to capture the three dimensional and multi tonal appearance of Space. In the foreground is the focal point: a rocket which pops out against the background.
Well done P7!
