Admissions

The mainstream of the school is Co-educational and caters for girls and boys. There is an Irish Unit within the school, which educates pupils through the medium of Irish. This unit is also co-educational. In addition, the school has 2 Learning Support Centres for children with moderate learning difficulties. These centres are housed within the main school building. The enrolment number for the year 2023/2024 is 392.

The school’s annual admissions number is set by DENI at 75. Application forms may be obtained from the online portal which opens in January.

Admissions for September 2024

Admissions Criteria for Primary Schools will be published on Tuesday 12 December 2023.

Primary 1 Applications for school year beginning September 2024 will open on Tuesday 9 January 2024 at 12 noon.

Children born on or between 1 April 2019 and 1 July 2019 (inclusive) and children born before 1 April 2019 but with a due date on or after 1 April 2019 whose parents deferred their admission to primary school in September 2023  

These children are required to apply for starting Year 1 in September 2024. Schools will treat these applicants in the same manner as all other Year 1 applicants.  

Children born on or between 2 July 2019 and 31 March 2020 (inclusive and whose due date was not after 1 April 2020) 

These children must apply for Year 1 admission in September 2024.

Children born on or between 1 April 2020 and 1 July 2020 (inclusive), and children born before 1 April 2020 but whose due date on or after this date. 

Parents of these children can apply for Year 1 or they may decide to defer and apply for pre-school. They are not permitted to apply for both a pre-school and Year 1 place. (See information on Defferal of School Age on the EA website).

The School Age (NI) Act became law in Northern Ireland on 28 April 2022 and has changed the law to allow the parents/guardians of younger children in the year group a choice to defer their child starting primary school by one year should they wish to do so.
